Slicker®
Covers
are clear, micro matte
vinyl protective cover systems that are designed to enhance
table sanitation and minimize table maintenance. The
covers encapsulate the original table
cushion.
A Slicker Cushion is a lined foam cushion that is permanently
welded inside a Slicker cover to even more effectively prevent
cushion penetration by fluids and contaminants. The
Slicker Cushion is a much less expensive way to replace the
cushion and Slicker Cover at the same time.
This site is set up by product type, machine
manufacturer, and model. Click the type of product you are
looking for, and click the name of your machine manufacturer.
You will be presented with a list of available model covers and
part numbers. We will also give you the manufacturer part
number where possible. Stretcher mattresses are shown by
size and type, without manufacturer name.
RadScan Medical makes our cover and cushions to
present the lowest possible x-ray attenuation, but there are
some procedures you should follow to obtain the best results
that are in the instruction sets that accompany them. All
of our CT covers and cushions are designed to be used in
conjunction with table safety belts. In use, the flaps
will be drawn up around the patient, forming a tublike
configuration that contains and keeps contaminants from
penetrating the table. If the flaps are allowed to sag or
drape the table rails, it may cause some artifact due to the
beam passing through the cover material obliquely. The covers
and cushions are designed to be as perpendicular to the beam as
possible when used correctly. Artifact problems are more
likely on smaller machines whose signal strength or machine
algorithm may not be as robust as on the larger machines.
We work with machine manufacturers on a continuous basis to
correct artifact problems as much as possible.
RadScan Medical uses custom formulated PVC to
manufacture our covers and cushions. However, any
nonporous material can be difficult to slide across,
particularly bare skin. We recommend that you always use a
sheet where possible to aid in patient positioning and comfort.
If you still have difficulty in moving patients, you can try
using an organic cleaner and wax product, such as Pledge®
(registered trademark of S.C. Johnson & Son, Inc.). When
covers or cushions are cleaned and disinfected, over time a
tacky residue may form. An organic cleaner/waxer removes
the residue and leaves a wax film that can make it easier to
slide across the cover or cushion surface, especially if you are
using a sheet. You should consult your site's infection
and allergy control policies before using this procedure.
Using a sheet should prevent direct patient to cover/cushion
contact.
Some antibacterial and cleaning solutions may
stain PVC. Normally, washing with a regular detergent
cleaner will remove most of the stain. You may also use
acetone or an alcohol based cleaner. In difficult cases,
some sites have have reported success using a chemical cleaner /
disinfectant like CDC-10, from Spartan Chemical Company, which
can easily be located using a search engine like Google.
The warranty on all radiology cover and cushion
products is 90 days from receipt. Stretcher mattresses are warrantied for 1 year from receipt. If you encounter a
problem, you should go back to the company you purchased the
product from, and they will arrange for replacement.
Often, if you call RadScan Medical directly, we will not have
the sales information available to authenticate your warranty
unless the product was purchased from us directly.
